Programme Lead for Postgraduate Diagnostic Imaging programmes at the University of Leeds.

Jane Arezina

Programme lead for the postgraduate suite of Diagnostic Imaging programmes in the School of Medicine at the University of Leeds.

I trained as a sonographer 3 years after qualifying as a radiographer and have never looked back! I love all aspects of ultrasound clinical practice and after many years of being involved in students’ clinical training as a mentor and assessor, I realised my ambition of delivering ultrasound education in the academic arena.

In 2006, after successfully achieving my MHSc in Medical Ultrasound, I was recruited to an ultrasound lecturer post at the University of Leeds-it was a momentous year for me! Being in this role has enabled me to share my love for ultrasound and be at the forefront of ultrasound student education.

I want my passion, enthusiasm and knowledge for the profession to motivate my students to achieve excellence in ultrasound clinical practice and research. There is nothing better than going out to ultrasound departments and seeing former students blossoming and driving ultrasound practice forward.

I can’t wait for ‘Sonographer’ to be a protected title and recognised officially as a profession-it has been a long time coming!
