Practical Stations:

Stations will rotate every 30 minutes. Delegates will be able to choose to attend up to 6 stations

There will be a break at 15.00 for 30 mins

PoCUS challenge - can you identify all the abnormal findings? Prizes for the best!

This station will test delegates interpretation skills in how many abnormalities they can spot for a range of clips and images. You only get to look at each clip/image for a short amount of time, so the pressure is on. Prizes for the top three best performances!

Gallbladder and biliary station

This station will focus on identification of the gallbladder, including fungus, body and neck, and how to find the common bile duct. Different approaches, planes, and positioning will be described.

Kidneys and bladder station

This station will focus on identification of the kidney, ureter (where visualied), and bladder. Key sono-anatomy, dimensions, pathology, and clinical relevance will be described.

Appendix station

This station will focus on identification of the appendix. Different approaches, planes, and anatomical variations will be described.

Lung station

This station will focus on identification of important causes chest pathology. Key windows, findings and a structured approach will be described.

Circulation assessment station

This station will focus on being able to assess a patient’s fluid status, especially ascertaining when fluids are indicated, and reassessing after boluses.

DVT station

This station will focus on identification of a lower limb deep vein thrombosis. Focused scanning approaches, as well as the feasibility of identifying below knee veins, will be described. How to apply focused and full scans to your practice will be covered.

Shocked patient station

This station will focus on using a structured approach to scanning the shocked patient. The pros and cons of each approach will be discussed.

Introduction to using Doppler in your practice

This station will introduce the different types of Doppler modes, when to use them, how to optimise the settings, how to interpret results and artefacts and pitfalls.

Eyeball max heart station

How can you get maximal information about your patient’s heart in a short time? This station will focus on using your eyeballs, with minimal measurements, to ascertain as much information as possible.

Mastering echo windows station

This station will focus on mastering several echocardiography windows. Tip and tricks for obtaining them in difficult circumstances and quickly.

Essential nerve blocks station

This station will focus on essential blocks for chest injuries, hip and lower limb blocks. The equipment required, drug doses and safety aspects will be discussed.

Using PoCUS for spinal needling station

This station will focus on ascertaining the bony landmarks and ultrasound guided techniques to improve your success in performing lumbar punctures, epidural and spinal anaesthetics.
