Chris Woodgate

Quality Improvement Partner for the Royal College of Radiologists and the Society & College of Radiographers

Chris Woodgate is the Quality Improvement Partner for the Royal College of Radiologists and the Society & College of Radiographers (RCR/SCoR) supporting all Imaging Services to enter into a quality improvement programme and develop an evidence base to meet the professional standard (Quality Standard for Imaging - QSI) published jointly by both colleges.

Chris has worked within the NHS for 36 years both clinically as an Advanced Practitioner Radiographer and in senior management roles covering not only Imaging Services but a variety of other services such Pathology, Pharmacy, Therapies, Neurosciences and Specialty Medicine.

Chris believes Imaging Services are key to the delivery of efficient, effective and safe care/treatment within the health service. The RCR/SCoR have developed the QSI which is patient focussed covering the functions and systems of a whole diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology service; which address quality in delivery and supports quality improvement.  In the current climate of increased workload pressures and funding issues the safeguarding of quality and patient care is paramount.  As the QI Partner Chris travels to Imaging Services to support work to meet the professional standard with emphasis on patient centred care and efficiency/transformational activities.   Using the staged approach to quality & quality improvement evidence gathered through this process can be used as part of any inspection/accreditation process.
