#MUAM: Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month

4th Oct 2019

October is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month and we are aiming to embrace and celebrate all that is ultrasound, our wonderful Sonographers and the great job they do.

Did you know that Medical Ultrasound is used to diagnose many medical disorders? Everyone knows ultrasound is famous for its use in scanning unborn babies but it is involved in much much more too! This includes the assessment of some types of Cancer, liver disease , looking at muscles and tendons, diagnosing blood clots (DVT’s), problems with wombs , ovaries and testicles,  troublesome gallstones and many more conditions from your head to your toes!

This is the first year we have embraced October as #MAUM following in the footsteps of our Australian and American counterparts.

Over the next few weeks we will be sharing stories from our Committee and Special Interest Group Members which highlight Ultrasound, the work they do, the things that inspires them and celebrates all things Ultrasound.  If you have anything you would like to share please contact us emma@bmus.org or tweet us using our handle @bmus_ultrasound and the #MUAM #MAUM2018 #MedicalUltrasoundAwarenessMonth.

MUAM month coincides with AHP’s Day on 15th October celebrating all Allied Health Professionals that work in the health service #AHPsDay #bettertogether
