August 2021

5th Aug 2021

BMUS is currently supporting several projects and collaborating with a number of national organisations. Here’s a summary of our main work at the moment:

  • Professional Guidelines edit and rewrite in collaboration with SCoR
  • BMUS Justification of Referrals guidance update
  • Ultrasound Training Guidelines for non-radiologists: rewrite in collaboration with the RCR
  • Guidance on infection control and ultrasound gel use with other key stakeholders and PHE
  • Development of the Capability Framework to assist sonographers and employers with career progression (commissioned by HEE)
  • UK Sonographer Scope of Practice survey.  Analysis is underway and results will be published later this year
  • Ultrasound Physics and Safety Committee Survey.  This survey is still live and is investigating practitioners’ understanding of safety and the role BMUS has regarding safe use of ultrasound
  • Webinars.  We continue to stream new educational webinars on a regular basis which are free to our members or just £15 to non-members
  • Study Days. We are pleased that our study days programme begins again in the autumn with the PoCUS day and Obstetrics day
  • We continue to work with SCoR on regulation for sonographers
