UCL International Hepatology Ultrasound Course 2027
11th to 13th Feb 2027
Location: The Atrium, The Royal Free Hospital, Pond Street, Hampstead, London, NW3 2QG
This Course is run by the University College London Institute for Liver and Digestive Health
Over recent decades, advances in non-invasive liver assessment have transformed the diagnosis, management and prognostic evaluation of liver disease. Conventional ultrasound, Doppler imaging, elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), together with biomarkers and clinical scoring systems, now play a central role in the assessment of diffuse and focal liver pathology, providing valuable information to guide clinical decision-making.
This 3-day comprehensive course will take participants from the fundamentals of liver ultrasound and splanchnic circulation to the assessment of a wide spectrum of hepatobiliary diseases, including acute and chronic liver disease, vascular and biliary disorders, infectious and tropical diseases, paediatric liver conditions and liver transplantation.
Led by internationally recognised experts in hepatology and liver imaging, the course will explore the clinical applications of conventional and advanced ultrasound techniques, including liver and spleen elastography, fat quantification and CEUS. Particular emphasis will be placed on their integration into everyday clinical practice, following the latest international guidelines.
Through interactive clinical cases and daily hands-on sessions on healthy volunteers and, where available, real patients, participants will develop practical skills and learn how to apply ultrasound effectively across different clinical scenarios, improving diagnostic confidence and supporting timely, evidence-based clinical decisions.
This course is valid for 22 CPD points.
