Drive to improve pregnancy scans for Down's syndrome

Guidelines for scans that assess the risk of Down's syndrome in later pregnancy are being drawn up in an attempt to improve their accuracy.
A 'routine abnormality' scan is currently performed at 18-20 weeks of pregnancy, but there are no standardised Health Service checks used around the country.
